Doug Schonberg grew up in Maple, Ontario and was called into ministry from his home congregation of St. Andrew's Maple. He met his wife Wendy when they were both working at Muskoka Woods summer camp. They celebrated their silver wedding anniversary in 2015. Doug and Wendy have two young adult children, a daughter and a son.
Doug completed his undergraduate degree at York University with a major in psychology. His Master of Divinity degree was completed at Ontario Theological Seminary in Toronto (now Tyndale Seminary) with a major in counselling. He completed his preparation for ministry in the Presbyterian Church in Canada with an additional two years of study at Knox College at the Toronto School of Theology.
Doug served with First Presbyterian Church in Collingwood as an Associate Minister from 1995–1998. He and his family moved to Chippawa in Niagara Falls in 1998 where he has since served with Chippawa Presbyterian Church.
When the opportunity arises, Doug and Wendy like to travel. Doug is a fan of a good story, whether in a book, on the screen or on the stage. He also has a terrible weakness for sweets.
